Installed on hand holes and inspection ports during secondary-side steam generator service, Rad Vent Loc covers:
- Boost Millirem Attenuation up to Tenfold or More
- Fully Satisfy Locked High-rad Requirements
- Meet Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) Standards
The patented RadVentLoc cover design incorporates two layers of protection. A 2” thick lead shield with diagonal channels promotes ventilation while absorbing and dispersing gamma rays, and a close-mesh stainless steel screen acts as an FME barrier against debris. Both layers are sandwiched in a welded stainless steel shell, which slides snugly into a hand hole or inspection port. A resettable combination or keyed padlock prevents unauthorized removal. Model RVL-60 fits 6.0” hand holes and Model RVL-2.4 fits 2.4” inspection ports; custom sizes are available.
Custom covers have been produced for the transition areas, and sets of covers are in use by five major utilities. In actual field measurements by teletector, a 1000mR field is normally cut down to a 40 mR field on contact.
